how shall I miss thee?

Today, we talked about the food we would miss from here if we were to go home. It was interesting putting in perspective all the things we take for granted over here (and also move the things we don't like to the background).

- summer fruit! cherries, local peaches, strawberries, you name it!
- infinite variety of cheeses
- relatively cheap wines and foodstuff (for the buck)
- ease of finding ingredients listed in gourmet (or not so gourmet) cookbooks
- root vegetables: beets, parsnips, purple potatoes, etc
- oh you know, everything we can't find back home, grass being greener and all...
(don't even get me started on things I miss about home!)

Just love trying out new recipes. We're avid fans of the Food Network, and I just got done watching my first Nigella Lawson episode. Makes me want to host a big Christmas do.
